Stella had two cakes this year because her birthday fell in the middle of the week and then we celebrated it with friends that wknd. I think my Hello Kitty cake turned out great, surrounded by "baby kitties". Watching the Cake Boss show late at night has paid off. I sculpted the cake out of rice crispies!

Thanks to all that attended Zev and Skyes birthday party. Instead of gifts, the boys received school supplies for the Joshua House. This is an orphanage for boys and girls ages 6-18 in Tampa. As you can see we had a huge water, jumpy slide and had a blast! The boys were very happy and proud at the donation drop off facility.

We adopted Rex at 9 weeks old and we just adore him. We had him for about a week when he developed a virus, cause still unknown. He is bouncing back slowly, but let me tell you---it is rough to watch a little creature suffer and not know how to help him. Even worse when your children are looking at you with sad eyes and asking, "Mom, is he going to die?" He is being treated at the place that we adopted him from and we hope to have him home soon. My Dad in his Thoreau-esque nature, said: "I will go outside right now and throw a stick in the river for him." I love that.

I have the pleasure and deepest respect for Heartland Cancer, (an affiliate member of Moffitt Cancer Center)namely Bj and Dr. Avashia with working for them as a Yoga teacher. Having been inspired by a few of my very close friends who have/had Cancer, I have found them to be the best teachers of all. Pictured here are two of my students that are currently undergoing Chemotherapy (note the treatment chairs behind them) for Breast Cancer. When you look at the stats of how many of us will one day develop Cancer, look now at what you can do starting TODAY----to prevent it.

I loved volunteering in the boys classroom, Stella always right by my side. I was able to have Home Depot donate plants, pots and soil for an Earth Day project again this year. The kids enjoyed painting the pots and then planting their own flowers.

Yep, just a typical day at our house---fighting off bad guys, (who knew there were so many, I never see them so they must be doing their job!) jumping off tall building and cliffs, (my poor furniture) Using weapons and tools needed to capture and conquer, (various kitchen utensils, yoga straps and blocks...)

How lucky I am to have a seamstress in my family, Nonna (Italian for grandma),aka: Mom, Maria.

Using flower girl reject fabric, (we are going with a different fabric for Tony and Gwyn's wedding) Nonna used the pattern that will be used for the wedding and made Stella an Easter dress. Stella calls it her princess dress and wants to wear it every hour of the day. Nonna is also making the brides dress and perhaps her own dress to wear for the special day. I wonder if it is too late to ask if....

I am a proud member of a volunteer organization: Tampa Big Givers. One of our most recent projects involved creating a Valentine Party for children at an orphanage. Children range from 6-18yrs old and most have been abused, abandoned, overall disrespected by their parents/guardians. Their stories and lives break your heart. It was a pleasure to be with them, even if only for an afternoon and hopefully bring a smile, warmth and relief from their worries. Zev volunteered to come along to help, which I was so pleased with. It opened his young eyes to those less fortunate, he was able to practice and give kindness. We decorated cookies, did crafts, played games and promised to be back---and we will. If only for a short time...we can make a difference.

Kids Community College gift to the President

I saw an Obama poster at the store and brought it home to put up somewhere. An idea hit me while looking at the poster and I shared my thoughts with the Director of our school. How awesome would it be to have the children and Professors sign the poster, take a picture of everyone in front of our school and write a little note to our President. It would be our way of saying, welcome to the White House, we wish you well, and thank you for your continued support of Charter Schools. The idea was a hit! It's hard to see from the pic, but right in the middle of the crowd, a few children stand holding the poster.

I'm proud of our school and appreciate the opportunity to make this happen. It's on its way to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW!

We are lucky to live a mile away from a Hydro farm. It is strawberry pickin' time and Stella refuses to pick anything but "pink" strawberries as that is her "favorite color" right now. Try arguing with a two year old that the red ones taste the best and that the green are still "baby" strawberries....The farm is fantastic and always supplies us with fresh veggies and yummy recipe ideas. john@hydroharvestfarms.com

I have continued my yoga journey in Florida and am so pleased with where it has taken me. I have been teaching at LA Fitness for the past year and have added Serenity Stream Yoga Studio and Kids Community College to my busy schedule.

I teach a Vinyasa Flow at the Gym and teach Pre/Post natal, Youth Yoga and Empowering Yoga at the Studio. I also volunteer once a week at the boys school to teach each grade how to get in touch with their mind/body/ spirit connection while standing strong and proud as warriors, trees and eagles. The enthusiasm, smiles and hugs I receive from the students is amazing. It deepens my personal practice with every class I teach.

We just returned from a fantastic trip to my old stompin' grounds, NM.

A few highlights: Hiking up to see the Pueblo Cliff dwellings, Kayaking and rafting in the Rio Grande with the kids, Zev and my special b-day celebrations with friends and family, (thanks Romero family!) Surprise encounters with old friends Lyra and Johnson Family and eating lots and lots of spicy food. Miss it already.

"Kindergarten Graduation"

Zev looked so handsome in his cap and gown, he received the "no tickets" award.

After each child received their diploma, they told the audience what they wanted to be when they grew up. This is a pic of Zev saying, "When I grow up I want to be a Daddy."

Skye's class gave a wonderful performance, and he is very excited about going into Kindergarten. Skye received the "most improved in reading and phonics" award.

This is the view from the kayak that Zev and I were paddling around in. As you can see, the lake is very close to our house AND I can tell you that 911 responds very quickly when called about a possible drowning. Luckily, it was just a scare that we encountered when we couldn't locate Skye for a few minutes. He was walking along the shore but we couldn't see him. Phew, after my heart started back up, we all had a very serious conversation about the water. I can tell you, I never want to experience that feeling again. A lesson for us for sure.

Tooth Fairy news:

Zev has lost both of his front, bottom teeth. Skye enjoyed his first visit to the dentist, saying it "tickled" and tasted like strawberries during his cleaning. And Stella has her first tooth coming in.

Moving news:

We sold our house! Only on the market for two weeks, (thank goodness, the showings and open houses can be hectic!) and a young couple expecting their first baby put a contract on it.

Now we can focus on the Florida move, still set for July.

I had my four month checkup and the dr. says I'm looking good...which I already knew. I weigh just over 15lbs (80%tile) and love to squeal and grab anything that comes near me, especially Mom's hair. My brothers make me smile and give me kisses all the time. I have started to eat rice cereal, well I spit it up---but I'm giving it a try.

Exciting news...we are moving to Florida! After much thought, going back and forth, forth and back, we decided that we would like to try a taste of the Tropics. Now that Andrew is done with school and the kids are still little, it seems like the right time. We look forward to our friends and family visiting, we are taking reservations now for next winter--ha ha. We are going to be in the city of Ruskin, 25 miles south of Tampa and three miles away from a beach. The kids are thrilled with the idea of swimming in the ocean and building sand castles. I love that it can be a bike ride to get there. Estimated move date: Late July.

Scenario: Picking up Zev from school today and running a few errands afterward.
Today I thought it would be nice to have Skye go with me to pick his brother up from school. We could then go visit Dr. Shempp and Barb, (our dentist/ hygienist/friends) to deliver our holiday treats and cheer.
When we arrive at the school Skye decides to wait in the car instead of standing out in the cold with me waiting for the class to come out. So, there I stand chatting with a few parents, collect Zev and head back to the car. I open up the door to a little munchkin covered in our holiday treats! Skye Guy!!! He gives me a wonderfully chocolate covered smile and extends a half eaten buckeye to me.
So, I have just finished another batch of cookies/treats and trust me next time---his butt is out in the cold with me waiting for his brother!!!

I'm thrilled to announce that I am teaching yoga classes again. Local people can catch me at the Rec. Friday's at 11:00 and at the new complex T/TH 5:30-6:30pm. My class today left me feeling a little sore, it's going to take some time to get back in shape. Three babies=flabby belly, will it ever go away?!
